MY EXPERIENCE- CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

WHO THIS GOVERNMENT HELP SEF?

Four days ago, I was on whatsapp lamenting about how the government of Nigeria should take certain responsibilities and take certain actions as regards this pandemic. You know, I was just putting my heart out there on my whatsapp status. And in a moment, the self conversation flipped from what it was to “What can I do for my country in these times?” And it was there and then that it dawned on me that I could do something… however little.

I didn’t think of it as anything till I finished typing and went back to read. . After reading, I started telling myself “Who typed this thing sef?” “Biko, who send me o?” “Which type of wahala is this one?” “Oluwa o!! ” But because I had put it out there and if I deleted the post, my lamentation no go get revelation, I decided to leave it. Shebi it’s 24 hours. It would soon disappear. Or So I thought! 😂😂

In a couple of minutes, a distributor (Dolapo Isola) of our products based in Ibadan responded that she would love to be a part of it, asking how she could come in. However, because of the distance, she could only come in financially. And so, a distributor of our products… I mean, someone who gets extra income from selling our products sends some money to us for what we were about to do. We received the alert the following morning.

Reality dawned after the alert came in 😂. Will you now say you’re no more doing again? What will happen to the money she sent? You better arrange yourself!!

Like play like play, that’s how we started o. Knowing fully well that moving around with my One year old son #sheababy during this time isn’t wise, I decided to use my network.

” Ara Ile o, Who knows how to make hand Sanitizer o? Epp me!!” A few people responded with links to DIYs. Some others asked me to come and learn both free and for a fee. But then in my mind, I wanted something tested and proven overtime. So, a senior friend who had been making Hand Sanitizer since the Ebola Virus issue was the one we bought the product from.

Stickers? I designed myself primarily because I did not have the luxury of time to wait on a graphics designer.

Printing? Sent via mail and was ready in 3 hours. Again, I didn’t have the luxury of time to wait till the following day. So, these very VIP stickers were chauffeur driven by a very nice Bolt Driver to me.

What else?

The Bottles? *sigh* God works in mysterious ways! When we rolled out our Black Soap about 3 years ago, these bottles were intended to be used to give our existing customers samples so as to get a feedback on their thoughts about the black soap. Funny enough, the idea never saw the light of day. I’d always look at the jars each time and just wonder why I was keeping “Kpanti” . But then, just like the donkey, the Master had need of it!!!

The rest they say is history.

2 days ago, within our locality we gave out 144 jars of Hand Sanitizers FREE OF CHARGE to people who may never be bothered about sanitizing their hands in times like this. We targeted the market women, welders, abokis and people who were were almost a 100% certain may never have had the luxury of coming contact with our products before.

One very important thing I’d never miss out from this gist is the fact that when I decided to sit and do a very minimal calculation on this, the Entrepreneur in me arose!! Lord, you’re just too much!! I was seeing an opportunity here. Thank You for this idea!! Babe, the instruction was clear – GIVE TO PEOPLE FOR FREE. When I was arguing and saying “Lord, this cash would do something, faa.” He said “THIS ONE IS SEED, IT’S NOT BREAD.” Hmnnn, I surrender o!! I surrender!!!

This feeling cannot be adequately expressed in words! Ever had that sort of experience before?

Here’s where I’m going with this…

1. God’s Word to you may be personal but it’s not private hence, my reason for sharing here. I would have just said the story without mentioning God or the conversation we had at all. Pastor Tolulope Moody taught me the personal but not private analogy years back!

2. God sends people ahead of time to your life to explain some things to you. However, you may not be able to fully understand it. Time is always a revealer.
The concept of bread and seed was first analyzed to me by Adebiyi Epistrophy Olusolape . 10 years later, , it was easier for me to understand what that meant.

3. I am not a politician. I’m not vying for a political post. I am a person like you who sees the lapses in the way things are run but decided to contribute a little but significant part to my community. You can do the same also… or even more as God puts the capacity in you.

4. People too numerous to be tagged have given me things I didn’t deserve! As one who recognizes this, I must consistently pay it forward.

5. My husband ‘Sola Abiola has a photography studio and I edit pictures. Na why the pictures fine like this o. 😂 😂 Nothing more o.

6. If you read this post to the end, it’s important that you share this. Why? First, for you to read to this point, it caught your attention. Secondly, we need some more good news taking over the social media space.

7. How did we share the items? Shebi they said social distancing. You now went to the market. Ah!! How did you guys do it? Where was your son? Hope you are fine? Kai, una get mind o. I’m sure my Mum reading this would be like “Omo yi o”. If you have any of these thoughts and more on your mind, just be patient. I’d make another post of how we distributed, pictures and the conversation in between. Stay tuned!! ☺

8. I trust you had a good read and are inspired to do more than you currently are doing.

9. If you’d like to do this within your community or you know anyone who wants to, you can always send me a DM. Let’s do this, people. We can!!

10. Remember number 6. ☺
